Often seen in Hluhluwe sharing mud holes with rhino, Buffalo are always an impressive sight up close. This extremely mean looking animal is often confused with Water Buffalo. This is incorrect, our buffalo are known either as Cape Buffalo or African Buffalo. Very different to the water buffalo found in Asia. |

Several large brindle bass, a specially protected species due to its low numbers, have taken up residence in the St. Lucia estuary mouth.
These fish have become a focus of angler and visitor attention, after one of these large fish died last year.

About 5/6 years ago the elephant population in the Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Park was not the friendliest group of elephants to be found. Young males were killing white rhino, and giving the female elephants a lot of stress, which in turn made the females pretty difficult animals as well. |
